Winter
New look for the blog. Since we’ll be on the road for Thanksgiving, I decided to change it a little early. Please pop out of your reader and check it out!
I think I love it…gonna keep it until the Spring.
It’s a new week!
Yes, I know it’s Tuesday. I never have a minute to sit here and type an entry on a Monday.
I weighed in yesterday and was measured as well! I’ve lost 12.2 pounds since the end of July and I’ve lost a total of 14″. Wow, right? I’ve lost 4″ on my hips! No wonder all my pants are loose! *LOL*
I went and calibrated my Nike+ thing yesterday at the high school track with some football players hanging out. Good times. I hope they were cheering me on in their heads! I can officially say that I run a 9:20 mile. Wow! Who would have thought that my body would like running? I did it for one semester in my Freshman or Sophomore year in high school. I did like it, that’s the only part of gym I did like.
I now have a new video card in my computer tower, yay! We ended up buying two of these. Greg put one in my tower and one in his. It makes SUCH a difference! I now see everything at 1440 x 900 as I have the new widescreen monitor I bought last week. My old video card was never upgraded, time passes too quickly, we bought my computer in 1999. Been a while! I’ve upgraded the DVD burner since then though, I have two plus an external that does Lightscribe for the business. Anyhow, today is backup day. Everything on my computer h/d will be on a DVD. I’m planning on doing the external h/d as well.
Today I’m working out, then later this morning Jacqueline, Vi and I are heading to Staples. She needs a new calendar for her paper planner and I need to look for brochure paper and folders for clients.
Have a good one!
It’s October!
Did you know that Fall is here? The leaves are changing color quickly here in Maryland. I had Greg take out the Halloween/Fall things last weekend. We’re going to go through them today and Sunday and start decorating!
I’ve been doing well working out and with the Jenny Craig program. I did get weighed this past Monday, but, gained .8 of a lb. so I didn’t post about it. I really chalk it up to two things. Stress and PMS. Don’t they usually go hand-in-hand? I know that I’ve been losing inches even though I’m not losing weight. Everything is fitting differently. I will try to post on Monday with an update after my WI! (weigh in)
Today all of us went to the eye doc. This is the first time we’ve been since early 2007 for Jac and I and late 2007 for Greg. As he’s retired, he gets a free one, then again in 2 years. Jac and I paid this time as in March 2009 we would be eligible and we’ve both been having problems with our vision lately. Her eyes did get a little worse as did mine. Greg got his eyes dilated, they look so weird! He’s got a freckle on each of his irises and one on the back of his cornea as well. They looked at them at Bethesda last year before he retired, gave him all the info on a thumb-drive. He took that with him today, the doc saw it right away and wanted to dilate his eyes. Anyhow, he’s still 20/20, must be nice! I really think that my eyes aren’t too bad. I’ve been at the same Rx for 10 years now. -7.50 in one eye and -7.00 in the other. Yes, I’m really blind I tell you. I’m -8.00 in one now and -7.00 in the other I think. Jac and I both have trial contacts on order…we put them in when he calls us in a few weeks and then wear them for a while, he checks them out and then we get our Rx’s. I use Contact Lens King for all our contacts. They always have my Rx in stock, which is great!
I’ve been busy on Twitter and Twitter Mom’s lately. I created a Tattooed Mom’s group on Twitter Mom’s the other day and it has 60 members in it right now! I would like to have more people participating though! If you are interested in tattoos at all, feel free to join us in discussions! There’s a few people that have no tattoos yet, but are interested in getting one in the future.
Greg and I are heading to Maryland Int’l Raceway tomorrow with some friends. Hopefully we’ll be there all day and into the night watching the bikes! I’m taking my Nikon and hopefully we’re parking in the pits so I can put stuff there when I don’t want to carry it around. It’s supposed to be nice weather tomorrow, in the low 70’s. Yay for Fall!
Sunday I’m delivering the DVD photos to the wedding couple from last month. Jac and Storm are taking Violet to the Ren Faire! Jac has been every year for 3 years now. This is the second year for Violet. Greg and I aren’t going this year, it’s impossible. Oh well.
I had some issues with my Pinkberry this past week. I’m currently putting everything back on it. It makes me sad as I had cool things on it and had it set up just right. Then, I had to wipe everything and I was still having issues. Since I’m within the 30 days, I just exchanged it for a brand new one! I hope to have ring tones back on it this weekend.
Time to get laundry done and I have to run the Scooba as well.
Technology
Violet has already got the flip-phone thing down playing with Greg’s cell phone from work! *LOL* She’s 16 months old. She also plays Mario Kart with Pap-Paw, she likes that. She has a V-tech as well.
I don’t think you can really get technology out of kids lives, it’s here.
I remember back in the day before email, cell phones and computers in our lives, in our home. We always encouraged reading, coloring, play-doh and playing outside if it was nice! I remember playing outside as a kid until the sky turned that purple color. Then I knew it was time to go inside for dinner. We rode bikes, roller skated, just hung out. Then Atari came out with Pong! Remember Pong?
We bought our first computer the year we got married, 1984. It was a Commodore 64 and we played games on it. We also learned a lot about computers that year and for the next few years. I so wish we had bought stock in Microsoft, can you imagine?! Over the next few years we built our own computers, I have one that’s a few years old, it works, so I hang onto it. We had a Packard Bell at one point, haha, I remember how that thing used to lock up. That was when Greg decided to build our own if possible.
With the girls, computer time/video games was for a reward after homework was finished and we limited it a lot. Our oldest was 16 before she was given a cell phone, we gave her a very used car at the same time. She’s 23 now. Our youngest got a cell for when we needed to pick her up from activities. I think she was 14 or so. She’s almost 20 now. Read more
New look!
I’ve just given this blog a new look. It’s the same style sheet as the previous layout, but it’s one that I really like. Very PINK, very GIRLIE, so beware if you click out of your reader!
I love it though. I will probably do one for Halloween, I think I have one already made around here somewhere.
Blackberry Curve in PINK!
Friday I called Verizon and then went into the store and bought a new phone! I bought this one. It does everything I need it to do, sync with Outlook for my calendar and tasks to do, text messaging, a browser so I can use it on trips, at the store, wherever. It will be really nice at Thanksgiving when we go to Atlanta, I can check my email from anywhere, not just on my laptop.
I’ve downloaded the following to it, just in case you have one and want to add something that you don’t have.
Theme I’m using right now. I like this one as I can move around the icons to what I want on the short screen and I love Pin-Up girls, so this is it for today at least. There’s a lot of themes on there and I’ve downloaded a few already.
Google Maps Gmail Google Reader Google Google Mobile
Flickr Twitterberry Viigo Crackberry Yahoo! Go
It came with a lot of things already on it, like Facebook and AIM’s.
I signed a one year contract, I’m in a 2 year right now and purchased the phone for $239 with a $70 rebate. Can’t beat that!
They transferred all my contacts for me and then I synchronized it with Outlook so I have addresses on there too. That’s one thing that I always find myself lacking when I’m at the post office or the UPS store. I called one of my friends to get Jess’s address once, remember Cindy?! *LOL*
Helloooooo!
Anyone reading this? Please pop out of your feed reader and comment so I know I’m not just talking to myself here! Thanks!
Sometimes the best things are the familiar ones.
I went back to an old layout tonight. I really like this layout and I’ve used it in the past, last year I think for a while. Sorry to keep flipping on y’all, but I think I’m good now.
Keeping busy.
I’ve been keeping busy here. We leave in a week for Atlanta! I’m SO excited! I get to see Jess, Greg’s sister Tina and her family and my brother David and his family.
It’s going to be great to see Tina and the whole family, been 5 years since we’ve seen her and her oldest daughter and we’ve never met her youngest daughter. She was pregnant with her the year Jess graduated high school, 2003. I don’t think her hubby came up to see the high school graduation, I cannot remember, but I think it was just her and her daughter. So it’s been longer since we’ve seen him!
We haven’t seen my brother and his family in years. I have, when I went down to Florida a few years ago, but, Greg hasn’t, so that will be good.
We haven’t seen Jess since mid-June and that was just for breakfast when she was in Northern Virginia for a wedding. We get to see her new apt. and meet her roomie and finally see all the places that she’s been talking about visiting but has been holding off until we get down there.
I have no idea what to pack. I haven’t even had a chance to think about it until today and we leave next Wednesday through Sunday night. I have to get a bathing suit this week and I plan on packing workout clothes as there’s a gym in our hotel. I don’t know what’s in it, but, I’m prepared to do whatever they have there! Read more
New Look
New look for the journal. It was time for an update. This is one of the few themes that I actually liked and didn’t really have to change to make it mine. So, pop out of your reader, please and check it out! Tell me how it looks on your browser. It looks great in Firefox on a Windows computer.
