Day 3
It’s been 3 days since I started Jenny Craig (JC). It was lunchtime on Monday that I started so I guess 2 1/2 days vs. three, but whatever.
It was a little expensive to start, but I used my money to do it, not that Greg wouldn’t have paid, but, I wanted to use it for something like this.
I signed up, got weighed and measured, found out my menu choices. I am on the menu meals that are planned for me this week. I also received a few books to look at and a menu to choose from for next week. I love all the food so far, except for the chow mien, which I don’t like anyway. I’m doing the frozen food this week…I know there’s shelf food for when you travel and other situations. I will need that when we are on vacation next month.
She said that my goals are very realistic and I cannot wait to get weighed on Monday. I go in after working out.
Since I’ve been working out at least 3 times at the gym per week, since February, and haven’t seen ANY change in my weight, I knew it was the food. My stomach isn’t bloated and I’m not hungry.
Off to get some lunch right now, I had a late start to the day. I need to remember to eat the Power Bar mid-morning or take it with me when I do errands.
Oh! I’ve been doing the Wii Fit every day as well, usually the afternoon. I’ve been getting pretty good on the advanced hula-hoop and step.
TTFN!
We knew this would happen.
Violet took her first steps today! Wow. It’s amazing to me that I watched MY grand-daughter take her first steps. She’s 14 months, so she’s right on target. She’s been standing in the middle of the room wondering what to do next for a few weeks now. I guess she figured it out!
I took photos and a video. If you are on our Flickr account, you should be able to see the video. I lowered the sound as I sound like a dork. *LOL*
And the journey begins.
I called Jenny Craig today, I called the local office, there’s one right down the road. I have an appt. tomorrow at noon to sign up. There’s frozen, microwavable food and shelf food. I like food that you microwave, so I’m going to get that. You go in weekly, set up your food plan and pick out your menu. I was losing when I had the nutritionist, but, then when we moved I gained some back.
I cannot stand that nothing fits me and even though I go to the gym, I’m not losing. It’s SO frustrating. I’m tired of it. I want to lose 20 by mid-October. Hopefully this will work. I’m encouraged by the stories I’ve heard over the years and by the things that I’ve read about the company as well.
Wish me luck!
Home
We got home after dinner on Thursday night. I drove the entire trip both ways which I’ve never done before! Greg loves to drive, so I let him. But, this time we took my Jeep so I drove.
Thursday morning I checked out of the hotel and then went to Bluebird Gap Farm and took some photos of all the animals. We used to take the girls there when they were little. It’s a free little farm, you cannot pet the animals, but, you can throw them some of the feed that they sell. There’s also a community garden that you can visit. It’s changed a bit, they put another fence up around the animals so there’s two now. I still managed to get some great photos though. I just stuck my lens through the fence if possible.
We hung out yesterday as it was Greg’s Friday off. He put up a light over the dartboard, I went to the store and got some food. I went to the gym and played on the Wii Fit. I found a top to wear with the black pants I found in Hampton for weddings. I dropped off some pants and jeans at the tailor, I pick those up on Wednesday. JC Penney hasn’t really be on my radar over the past few years. Their stuff has changed a lot and I’m giving them another try.
Violet is growing so fast, she’s practically walking. She’s standing up on her own, so we know it’s only a matter of time until she’s off and running. Jacqueline is feeding her more and more table food, our shopping cart was only filled with some baby food fruit yesterday. Pretty soon she will be totally on table food hard to believe.
I have tons of photos on cards to upload to Flickr. I will probably do that tomorrow. From our trip to Newport News and from yesterday.
I’m meeting with one of the wedding couples today. It’s an hour drive to get down there, so I will be taking photos on the island as well. I’ve never been down there, but I’ve wanted to go. Today is contract day and I get to see the church and ballroom. I’m nervous about the dim lighting in both, going to fire a lot of test shots. I’m glad I don’t usually do weddings, after this one I just have one more, then that’s it. It’s nerve wracking to say the least. I have the contracts and all the other stuff to go over with them. Today is the couple that’s already married, but are getting re-married in a Catholic church. Their wedding is on the 9th of August.

Déjà vu
Déjà vu is a glitch in the Matrix. I had a few of those today. After having a bagel that was toasted twice, once in the side that didn’t work, then in the side that did (honestly, just put a sign on the toaster or go buy a new one already.) I took off to see our old neighborhood.
We used to live on the Chesapeake Bay on a very well used road. Joggers run and people walk their dogs all the time on this road. It’s a gorgeous view of the water and if you look close enough you can see the Naval Base across the Bay.
We moved out of this house in December 2004. What’s that, almost 4 years? Nothing has really happened to this house since then. It looks like they ripped out the adjoining apartment and the sunroom that was off of the master bedroom down to the studs, now they are rebuilding. I think they put a new roof on it, we cannot tell with the pictures. They ripped out the a/c unit that was built into the master bedroom and never fixed the siding. The porch hasn’t changed, if anything it looks more worn out. No one is living there, if they are it’s with HUGE holes in the screens and no furniture in the house. Supposedly they were fixing it up while the owners were living there. Anyway, it was weird to see the house again. We lived there for 6 years, that’s a long time to be in one house in the military.
I took some photos on the roads that surround the area. I was shocked to see 14 houses with “for sale” signs within a two block radius.
I went to Langley Air Force Base to get some more photos. The gate guard said that I couldn’t, but I could if I didn’t get caught. Hm. Should I try? Yup, sure did. That’s what zooms are for.
I looked around the bx but didn’t buy anything. I did drive around the base to see how much it’s changed, it’s changed a lot!
I called up my friend Karen and I drove over to her house to take her and her daughter to a local place for lunch. We visited and ate and then went back to her house for a while. I took some great photos in her yard and of her pregnant daughter in law.
Tomorrow I’m off to Bluebird Gap Farm, which is a place we took our kids growing up. I want to get some photos of the animals and then I’m not sure what I’m going to do. Maybe shop at the mall up in Newport News. I won’t have a hotel to go back to as we leave tomorrow afternoon to drive back home.
All photos will be up on Flickr sometime this weekend, so look for them, okay?
Thanks for reading! :)
New Look
New look for the journal. It was time for an update. This is one of the few themes that I actually liked and didn’t really have to change to make it mine. So, pop out of your reader, please and check it out! Tell me how it looks on your browser. It looks great in Firefox on a Windows computer.
It’s done!
No, it’s really done! I now own Sara Nelson Photography! I just moved everything over this morning. This blog isn’t moving, so keep it on your links, please!
Not Your Daughter’s Jeans
Not Your Daughter’s Jeans are the most comfortable jeans I’ve ever worn. I cannot say enough good things about them and this is just from trying them on this morning. Go and buy a pair even if you don’t need any!
Happy Anniversary to us!
24 years ago I married my best friend. We’ve been through good times and bad. Through the military and civilian life. We’ve moved 14 times, had 9 cars, 4 washers and dryers (regardless of replacing the heating elements a million times, I still count it as 4), bought one house, had two children of the girlie DNA, watched our little grand-daughter from birth until present, been separated more than 10 years total due to the US Navy but proud to have served.
I love you more than I did when we said our vows that hot morning in Florida. I don’t know how that could be possible, but I do.
I’m always yours, Greg, forever.
You are the best thing that ever happened to me and I truly believe that God decided we needed each other and we met.
I love you!

We’re off to dinner at TGIF’s tonight, yummy!
Reading
I’m currently re-reading the entire Harry Potter series. I like the books better than the movies. :)
